DOOM95

About This File

DOOM95.EXE will work with any DOOM or DOOM2 main wadfile.

With DOOM95, you no longer need to keep your main wads in seperate directories. Copy all main wad files (DOOM.WAD, DOOM2.WAD, PLUTONIA.WAD, TNT.WAD, etc) to the DOOM95 directory and launch DOOM95. To play, choose the appropriate wad file from the launcher and then start the game.

Was trying to get this to work on Windows 11 but says it wont work with WindowsNT.  Any thoughts on how to circumvent this?  Would love to experience this again since its been 20+ years since ive played Doom95

Didn't have the chance to play Doom in this port. I've tested it, and while not bad, nowadays it's not the best source port, but it has it charm. 3/5 is fair enough ;-)

Had a very nostalgic blast through this when I was a kid. Played through the entirety of TNT Evilution with Doom95 without monsters enabled. Good Times.

Love the nostalgia and feel of this source port, but bugs are still here.

First time I played Doom, was on Doom95. But other than that, don't even bother to use it. There's much more wholesome source ports out there. If you would like the Doom95 "feel". I'd suggest getting Crispy-Doom. Or just lowering the resolution and graphical improvements of GZDoom/Zandronum.

I love cheats added in Doom95. First of all, it's my first source port. I played Doom, Doom 2 and Plutonia on dad's PDA (later I had been solving Hexen puzzles on gran's PC with Vibra 16 sound card AFAIR). Doom and Doom 2 were too glitchy to play and had no music. You may not believe what I say, I saw Doom for first time on my birthday when I got 1 year old.

The best game ever I seen.

To the person who said "Better than Zdoom"

ARE U KIDDING ME??? I sincerely hope u are kidding because any port is better than this (and zdoom totally destroys it). Stop being a hater.

Microsoft did this to promote Windows when they found that more people have installed Doom than Windows OS. They didn't bother to fix some bugs in this port, even claimed that game was made to be played without mouse. Choco Doom and other ports proves that Doom community have much more talented people than Microsoft. I think Doom was the reason for Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth being made by Roland too.

It was great to play with it in the past. And nowadays a must-have becauseof historical interest.

FFS people, stop reviewing this like it's new - it's history. And if you really do want history, play the DOS version on a 486 ($10 from eBay). If you just want the retro feel, then it's Chocolate Doom. Otherwise play PrBoom or ZDoom.

Get Chocolate or PrBoom+ instead. This port was rushed out the door by Microsoft.

Ah the memories I have of this. Fond ones too. Doom 2 for Christmas, then Final Doom the following one. Eventually I discovered Icarus Alien Vanguard... then I discovered that there were superior ports out there. but for a pure doom experience without DOS, this is it. 5/5

meh..I never really liked Doom95. The thing I always hated about it is how all the sound effects are inexplicably "slowed down" a tad and there's no option to fix it. And now that there's Chocolate Doom, Doom95 is rendered absolutely useless?!

2fort on it's original incarnation.   Pretty great.

The first ever version of 2fort. It barely resembles its later incarnations.   Crazy how an entire franchise and FPS genre spawned from a single map. It's a crime that the origins of Team Fortress have been forgotten. Most people don't know anything before Quake/TF1 2fort, but nope, this is yet another massively influential thing that the Doom community can claim.

Great fun. Bleak, metal-driven style over fairly easy substance, which is a good thing. I can see the song getting annoying in a more challenging map.

Pretty fun map if you want some quick, easy slaughter fun. Just sucks a bit that you can just cheese the whole thing by leaving the arena and running around at the edges of the map. Cool to play with gameplay mods tho!   Music is alright but it does get a little annoying after a while.

Classic, sober, simple tech map that I'm fond of. The flow of the map is like a river, and the backtrack (that myself is usually upset about) is intuitive to follow. The teleport repopulation is smart enough. I don't know about the health/ammo tightness other comments talked about because I played with a mod.
