What if Capstone was revived and rebooted into a modern video company

Me want capstone revival, but instead of bad games, they make good game, and make sequel to OBC and Corridor 7

would you like capstone be revived into a good company?

C7/OBC fan here chiming in at 3 O'Clock.

Depends on how well they actually develop and execute the sequel to C7 and OBC. If they pull it off well enough, I'd definitely welcome them as a developer resurrected from the dead, especially if they stay to their roots and all the things made them intriguing and fascinating in the past while trying to adapt to the modern era with none of the modern era's crappiness.

I can only see Capstone working best as a dedicated independent studio for retro gamers like Night Dive with a more updated feel to it in this decade and beyond, given how they have otherwise no universal support nor backing from the gaming community.

As long as Capstone makes more expanded add-ons and content for C7 and OBC, especially on the same Wolf3d engine to appeal to my retro tastes, to celebrate both their upcoming 30th anniversary, with none of the broken aspects of their original attempt in OBC's case, I'd be more than happy to be alive in this world right now.

In short: new C7 and new OBC content (and mods) are precisely what I desperately need the most this year in 2024 and beyond. But I'd be satisfied with mere official add-ons and expansions to its remasters (like new maps, new enemies, new wall textures, etc.) on the same engine and just actual mods of them already.

And the only things I'd want more than new C7 and new OBC content (or actual mod)s would be: new Blake Stone content, new Strife content, maybe new Catacomb 3D content, and my favorite characters Hello Kitty to make a comeback to Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade as either a balloon or a float for her 50th anniversary this year (and maybe even Doraemon but one can only dream) AND any new reboot or sequel to my favorite anime childhood icon, Pokonyan, and any new content or merchandise related to the 90's NHK series to celebrate its 30th anniversary (which passed last year) and a 30th anniversary release of its Capcom ride game, Pokonyan Balloon! And anything related to Fujiko Fujio and anything else at the back of mind that I may absolutely want that I'm missing. You get the picture.

And I don't think it would be terribly hard to write a program that would extract all the sprites and textures from a local legal copy of a Build game.

From what I remember XWE can extract resources from some of these old Build games.

I wouldn't be opposed to remakes of Capstone games, especially maybe TekWar which has nuggets of good ideas scattered about.  But bringing Capstone (or even the name) back from the dead is completely unnecessary for that to happen.  Maybe make them the villains in the TekWar remake, that could be more fun

That's my recollection as well, but surely there's something better than XWE these days?

With Les Bird as the endboss and Joe Abbati (his music was pretty good at times!) as an informant :P

LOL this sounds like character assassination and mockery in the form of an effigy taken to a whole new level.
