Next doom game won't have mick. Is doom, doomed!?

Recommended Posts

Considering how badly he was treated, I'd be more concerned if Gordon did actually come back to score another Doom game or anything else for those arseholes ever again. For the sake of his artistry and mental health, I'd prefer Gordon stay as far away from id Software and Bethesda as humanly possible.

If Mick Gordon's claims are 100% true I am inclined to agree with you, which is a damn shame to hear.

But in a way I'm a little suspicious of his side of the story and if his "evidence" is reliable. In fact a part of me thinks his released story was him going ahead with a small threat / blackmail because he didn't get what he wanted.

In saying that, even with my speculation, I still think id software likely to have mistreated / poorly managed him one way or another.

No, just because *composer you like here* no longer works on a videogame doesn't mean that the game will automatically be bad. You seem to have  an obsession with trying to prove that the next doom game will be bad. Despite the fact that we basically know next to nothing about the next installment. First, there was the story thread and now this?

If the game will be bad, it will be bad not just because of the music or the story, the real heart lies in the gameplay and design. If someone replaces Mick Gordon, how does it matter especially since Id has already did that (Andrew Hulshult, etc.). You are just worrying too much about really inconsequential things.

Andrew Hulshult and David Levy did a fine job with the Doom Eternal DLC, so no, it'll be just fine. Even if the composer turns out to be neither of those two, somehow, then the only thing that will make it bad is the gameplay itself being bad, just as others have said here. It's honestly a juvenile outlook to go "GAME BAD BECAUSE MUSIC BY SOMEONE ELSE" with no other basis on that opinion. Wait until the game comes out, see what people say about it, watch gameplay videos on it, and form your opinion from there.

Boy, I can't imagine how the franchise would survive if they decided to make a Doom game that focused on being dark, gritty, scary, and put reloading mechanics into it. No siree, can't imagine it, nuh uh...

... what do you mean they did something like that nearly 20 years ago?

It's not silly. It's serious. The Doom God himself won't be back in the next doom installment

I mean, Eric Yeung has been missing since the mid-90s or so...

Im gonna be that guy but,"doom chuds"? Who is "us" in that sentence?

Personally, I dont see myself as a doom "chud" or, a chud whatsoever. Please dont call "us" that. Thank you

On the topic, im sure they will find someone that does the job just fine. Yes, it sucks that mick gordon probably wont be involved due to the disaster that happened during doom eternal's production but, at the same time, it was inevitable.

Doom survived before Mick Gordon and Doom can survive without him, I love Mick's tracks as much as the next person, but there are lots of talented musicians that can do just as well or even better then Mick did.

I wish him luck in his future endeavors but Mick did not define Doom nor ever will.

despite the drama, Doom would be fine even without Mick Gordon. True, his works for 2016 and Eternal are great, but at the end of the day other people can fit the bill id was going for.

Hulshult and Levy did a great job anyways, even they would be replaced one day, like Prince and Hodges did eventually.

1. What is a chud?

Some would say it's like "cuck" but from the "other side", followed with "jealous that they didn't get to claim the word cuck first".

Like the internet equivalent of someone making up words to insult others because they're afraid to say bad words and get in trouble over it.

Originally, it was used as a sincere insult by some people but it's now used ironically with goofy phrases like "is it over for us X chuds" and that one wojak "billions must die" meme.

So that phrase has to be ironic or nathanB404 just picked it up from like a 4chan thread without knowing it was probably ironic in that context.

Then again, so much if internet culture is made up language and people picking it up without question.

I just found out they ditched Wolfenstein 2 for some silly new space hell game. I'm boycotting id Software.

I had to look it up, myself:

Lovely. I have vague memories of an 80s b-movie horror film with the same name. So now based on your definition, I am really glad I never watched it.

On a much more serious note (see, I can be a comedian too.) Please don't turn the forums into the cesspit known as Reddit. These nonsensical threads might be funny to you but I very much doubt they're funny to anybody else.

DW unwritten rule 133: Memorize the names and birthdays of the original id Software employees. It is also preferable but not mandatory to also have shrines for them in your home. At the very least however you should have a framed photo of John Romero on the wall with his smile. That goddamn smile. It's both a morale boost on bad days and inspiring for when you are having mapper and/or modder's block.

Good luck finding one for Adrian Carmack though. They're few and far between.

I mean, did Doom die when Robert Prince didn't take back his role for Doom 3? (Okay, bad exmaple...But did it die when he didn't for DOOM, or hell, Doom 64? No!)

Temporary developer of the original Doom but left after having some creative differences. He then moved on to creating games like Rise of the Triad.

Some classic Doom maps were partly his work.
