Source Ports on Steam Deck and what I've found

Very cool! I never knew this existed! You know, I think you told me you were on vacation before :) Enjoy your time away from programming! I will have to look into this. I've never had to compile anything on the Steam Deck before but I know it's possible lol
  2. Luxtorpeda works great but I am on a quest to get native Source Ports running on the Steam Deck- I like the tinkering lol. ZDL even works natively as well! Source Ports I have found: *GZ Doom is in Discovery Store and works great, controller support is weird/tricky, but works fine once you figure out the proper bindings (applies to all GZDoom based games on Steam as well, Supplice works fine with no tinkering) *Woof now has an AppImage and works great *Nugget has an AppImage and works great *Crispy Doom is on Discovery Store but I had trouble with controls (Would probably work fine with mouse and keyboard) Source Ports I CAN'T find: *DSDA - surprising considering how popular it is! I think an AppImage would be awesome *PrBoom- Also surprising! *Doom Retro (I would love an AppImage for this one too! @bradharding is such a thing possible?) *International Doom (Also see above. @Julia Nechaevskaya any chance of this? :) ) Please no pressure at all, as I realize Linux/the Steam Deck is a niche setup, but I would love to get my grubby mitts on as many Source Ports as possible. I'll even test builds for you if you want! Are there any other source ports I am missing? Especially if they have an easily accessible AppImage I am absolutely interested :)

    International Doom 7.3 (December 31, 2023)

Had to bust out my backup laptop. Awesome stuff as always! My kingdom for an AppImage lol

    This is Woof! 12.0.2 (Dec 13, 2023)

@fabiandelivered the AppImage as promised :) Between Woof and Nugget having app images and GZDoom in the Discover store, my Steam Deck is almost completely good to go. Just need to get a DSDA AppImage and I am completely set. (Also Doom Retro and International Doom haha)
  5. Thank you so much!! Updated my directory and it works fine now ❤️
  6. Super excited to see an AppImage for ease of use on Steam Deck! Is there any way to pick a soundfont/midi player on Linux? I get a "fluid synth" missing pop up on launch. I guess I am also curious where the local files/config are saved on Linux, if anyone can help there :)

    Eternity Engine on Steam Deck?

Thank you so much for the tip! I can't believe I forgot about that. I got it working now, thank you :) Last oddity I need to solve: Music doesn't play by default using Proton but changing to ADLMIDI in sound does- doesn't sound great but it plays at least lol. I think with tinkering in sound options I might be able to get this nailed down. I've noticed a lot of oddities in SFX clipping incorrectly and missing MIDI playback when running things through Proton so that isn't an EE-specific problem. Thank you so much for your help @Edward850. Once I get music working I'm playing through Heartland again

    Eternity Engine on Steam Deck?

I've actually done that, but I haven't gotten it to work through ZDL. Sorry should have elaborated lol

    Eternity Engine on Steam Deck?

Any chance of a Discovery Store build? 👀 Barring that, can anyone point me to something showing how to get Eternity Engine running on Arch Linux, or the steam deck in particular? I've fallen down the "Doom on Steam Deck" rabbit hole, and got GZdoom and ZDL working pretty seamlessly, but having trouble with some others
  10. Holy guacamole I know what I'm doing on my lunch break :) Can't wait!

    dsda-doom v0.25.6 [2023-01-15]

Oh man, extremely blessed- thank you! :) I know linux is a small market share, but the steam deck has honestly proven to be the absolute perfect "doom" device for me in both handheld and docked so I am on a mission lol

    DBP59: Zeppelin Armada

Awesome, awesome stuff! Super fun to play on Steam Deck :) oddity I encountered: played in Luxtorpeda GZdoom, the chaingun has a clicking/clipped SFX when firing that does not exist on the discovery store version of GZDoom, despite being the exact same version #. Oh well lol. Really good maps as usual for the DBP crew. Going to have to go back the last couple months and catch up on what I missed!

    dsda-doom v0.25.6 [2023-01-15]

As I slowly rebuild my source port collection on my steam deck, I am curious: does a Linux build of DSDA exist? I know Luxtorpeda has a version but I would prefer standalone or an appimage/discovery store install if such a thing exists, if only for archiving purposes. I know Woof is getting an appimage with the next release per Fabian, but curious if anyone has made one for DSDA. Couldn't find anything from a cursory google search on my phone. Please let me know if I should be looking elsewhere for one and thanks in advance!

Oh man nice!! Will make this whole thing much easier for me lol. Much appreciated @fabian

    This is Woof! 12.0.2 (Dec 13, 2023)

Thank you so much @plums ! I'll check it out :) I've actually been using the GZdoom and Crispy flatpaks because they were so easy. No knock on crispy or GZdoom, but I've always been a sucker for Woof ❤️. I've gotten everything ALMOST exactly how I had it on my laptop because Luxtorpeda gets Doom Retro and International Doom working too, just need Woof now to complete my "set" lol
