    [RC5] EVITERNITY II - RC5 Released!

Who could have possibly guessed that the sequel to would be such a ball-buster... And that ending! What in the what?!
  2. Kills, yeah. Secrets, I will if it seems like the level author is hiding them in a fun way. I stop if they get to be too much on the BS side of things. Items, nah.

which monster do you hate the most?

Lost Souls, they have too much HP for what they are. If adjusting their HP down became as common as changing the plasma rifle's sound in custom WADs, I'd be happy.

What was your Doom moment of the 2023?

When I woke up one morning last week, checked Youtube, and saw someone post a playthrough of the first couple levels of Eviternity 2. I thought it was a Plutonia 3-type shitpost situation, then a friend of mine sent me a PC Gamer article on it. WAD's pretty good, turns out.

    [RC5] EVITERNITY II - RC5 Released!

Hah, I know, I'm gonna keep the earlier builds around just so I can feel like a superhero every once in a while.

    [RC5] EVITERNITY II - RC5 Released!

I wasn't able to reproduce the stuttering I saw on Map 16, could very well have been something dumb my machine was doing at the time. I did manage to get Doomguy's chunky butt stuck behind these boxes in RC2 Map18, though. Maybe not as big an issue if I knew anything about glides, but I don't, so idclip to the rescue.

    [RC5] EVITERNITY II - RC5 Released!

No, no mods or anything. I'm gonna try running it again later tonight, DSDA and GZDoom, and see if I can replicate the slowdown. Was a little stuck in Survival Mode my first time through to take too many notes :)

    [RC5] EVITERNITY II - RC5 Released!

Lovely map though, it felt very Plutonia in how you had to balance freewheeling recklessness and careful play, but with loads of attention paid to visuals (which seems redundant to say about this WAD).

    [RC5] EVITERNITY II - RC5 Released!

RC2, Map 16. I switched to DSDA between episodes, and I was getting a decent amount of slowdown in a couple spots in this map, both with software rendering and OpenGL.

what was the firsrt doom game you played

Doom II in 1995 on the brand new family computer. My dad asked one of his coworkers for PC game recommendations, and he lent my dad an Apogee demo disk, and the pile of Doom II disks. I was 10 years old and mom was not impressed. I don't know which version of the game it was, but I recall the automap could draw enemy and player shapes, as well as projectiles, and when I'd get bored of playing the regular way I'd try to beat levels just using the automap, turn it into a top-down Contra level.

    [RC5] EVITERNITY II - RC5 Released!

As long as it can still one-shot the big gray dudes...

    [RC5] EVITERNITY II - RC5 Released!

So this is back on RC1, since I was partially through the episode before I noticed RC2 was out, but on Map 14, is the blur sphere supposed to be tagged a secret? I finished with 4/5, I didn't see anything else that looked like it could have been the missing secret, and the effort involved to get it certainly felt secret-ish. Also, Map 33...so glad this game doesn't have a lives system.

    [RC5] EVITERNITY II - RC5 Released!

Is Map 14 the biggest mapping trick flex ever or what? I couldn't believe what I was seeing with those key secrets.

    [RC5] EVITERNITY II - RC5 Released!

I like to play continuous in episodic wads, and I've found it fairly manageable so far. I'd love to see how pistol-starters handle Map 10.
