Custom MIDI selection when making a map

When making a map, - Do you usually consider music selection an afterthought? - Do you usually add a MIDI track before, during, or after development? - If you do add a MIDI track during or before development, does the choice of MIDI influence your mapping in any way? - Do you usually constantly swap tracks and see what works for the map and what does not? - If you know how to arrange MIDIs, would you rather compose an original track for a map or select an already existing track?

If you could pick one Doom 2 enemy and put it in the first Doom

The Hell Knight. When it comes to Doom 1, there's no choice for a slow glass cannon. Barons are way too tanky, and Cacodemons, while not as tanky, don't have projectiles as hard-hitting as noble hellfire. Not to mention they can fly, which can be undesirable for some encounters. The Hell Knight is not too tanky, has a powerful projectile, and is slow, perfect for Doom 1's style of gameplay. Everything else feels too fast or makes combat too frenetic for Doom 1, considering the lack of SSG.

    Why do we mod?

"I think, therefore I mod." -- René Doomscartes, probably Serious answer, because modding is a fun creative outlet that allows you to change your favorite game without the trouble of making a game. You have the engine, figure out the rest yourself, dummy. Bonus points if the game was meant to be broken apart, teared down and modified.

    AI generated Coca cola flavor!

"Future Inspired Flavor" Uses AI technology from the present, turning into AI technology from the past with every passing second I hate false advertising so damn much. Coca Cola has fallen.

Am I allowed to use color palettes from other wads?

If the license allows the borrowing of assets, credit them in your text file and have fun. That's the rule of thumb for most assets. Just be careful, sometimes some creators don't credit where they got some assets, so you could end up taking an asset that turns out wasn't even allowed to be used.

    What Chocolate is Best Chocolate?

So I'm not the only one! Frozen chocolate is delightful, it's harder to chew, meaning it lasts longer, meaning you get to taste and savor it for longer, and it doesn't instantly melt when left out for 1 minute. Though, I only freeze chocolates on the darker/cocoa-heavy side. White chocolate doesn't need to be frozen.

    What Chocolate is Best Chocolate?

Frozen. Frozen chocolate. I don't care how sweet it is. I don't care how milky or chocolate-y it is. If it's frozen with frost around it's edges then I am happy.

    a new chapter

As the above have stated, We're not talking shit or trying to take away your happiness, but perhaps step back a bit. Considering how you both only took 1 week to decide that you're going to meet up, then you're most likely putting yourself in a very dangerous situation. And even if it's safe, Infatuation/love at first sight is not an ideal basis for a relationship. Please take a step back, make sure both of you are in it for the long run, and put your safety above all else.

    Favorite MIDI instrument?

That instrument is really quiet for some reason. You did use it to good effect in "Run 'em, Gun 'em, Kill 'em", though. That's the only MIDI I know of that uses it :P Most instruments after 80 are slept on (with the exception of Brightness and the Gunshot). I wanna see some more Charang usage, dammit!

What track from Doom annoys you the most?

As a major TNT apologist, I am legally obligated to defend Cold Subtleness, and every other TNT MIDI. Except the text screen music. Evilution's text screen MIDI is the saddest, shortest MIDI that can exist. What were they thinking? It's not music, it's just the distortion guitar played at a really low note!

    Favorite MIDI instrument?

To the sequencers and listeners of the Doom community's MIDI music, what is your favorite instrument? Yes, I know that all instruments sound different depending on the soundfont/card/module, etc. Let's assume we're talking about the sounds from good ol' gm.dls by default and other soundfonts/cards/modules can be mentioned.

What track from Doom annoys you the most?

For Doom 1, I think it'd be Waltz of the Demons. That xylophone-piccolo drives me mad, not to mention it's used in the worst levels imaginable. For Doom 2, It would be Running from Evil. I can't stand it anymore. Mapping has ruined it for me to the point that I put a custom D_RUNNIN replacement in every texture pack WAD I use.
